The Simple Ways Jesus Helps Us in Our Journey
In the Gospel reading from last Sunday (Luke 24:13-35), Jesus has risen from the dead and walks with two disciples, Cleopas and another disciple whose name we are not given. I do not think there’s a person on the planet, believer or skeptic, who wouldn’t have wanted to be that other unnamed disciple who walked with Jesus and Cleopas on that day so long ago. These two saw Jesus face to face after his Resurrection, and they heard from Jesus’s own mouth how all the Scripture pointed to Him. What a gift that was given to those disciples! This was a physical encounter with the risen Christ. Only about 500 people in all of human history got to see the Risen Christ, and only these two got to walk with him on the road to Emmaus.
But what about us? What about us who have not seen? How does Jesus (who is physically alive right now) help you and me as we make our journey in life? The answer to that question is much more simple than you might guess.
