The Worst Thing that Can Happen to Anyone
The one of the worst things that can happen to you in life is to get everything you ever wanted, but not really know God.
If we end up having a great job that is rewarding and that makes lots of money, living in a great neighborhood with a comfortable and spacious home, if we have a great family and if we have means to travel and to live out any hobbies we'd like, but we don't really know God... we've missed what life is about. It is equally tragic to be a person who has spent a lifetime in church, who knows the Bible forward and backwards and has a great church where the Bible is faithfully taught, where the children’s programs are out of this world, and where people love others... and yet to somehow MISS what it means to be CLOSE to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Both you and I, and every person who has ever lived, were made to know God in a personal way. Life with Him is difficult in this world, but it is the life of joy, peace, pleasure, fulfillment that every human heart desires. Our OT passage in Exodus 33:12-34:9 this morning, deals with the importance of closeness with God,
and the emptiness that it is to have everything in life… but not have Him.
