Why Does It Matter that Jesus is King?
As they faced increasing persecution from the Roman Empire, the earliest Christians took great comfort in the truth that Jesus was the real King and not Caesar. They knew that despite what the apparent power of the Roman Empire, the real power was Jesus.
Because the idea of kingship is so foreign to most Americans today, we tend not to think about or take much comfort from the truth that Jesus is the King of all Kings. But the reality is that whenever we take a step of faith and trust Jesus, we are banking on this truth. In fact, a Christian who doesn't understand Jesus's kingship (at least in some small way) will struggle live faithfully as a disciple.
In this sermon we're look at 2 Tim 4:6-8, at two ways in which the Apostle Paul banks on Jesus's Kingship.
2 Tim 4: 6-8, 16-22
